Wow! This story just keeps getting better and better. LOVED this chapter! I loved how true to character Richard is acting. This line made me laugh

“Some strange bogey just blew past us at six forty knots, making a beeline for ground zero,” Bones informed him.  “Damn if it didn’t look like a seaplane.”

I don't know why, it just struck me as funny.

Again, thank you for this fic!!!!  I check this site about 5 x a day for updates - was sooo happy to see one tonight!

Excellent work.
And I cannot help but feel sorry for Richard, with his realization at the end of the chapter.

Agreed yet another great chapter.

Ha ha I had a debate with Saavikam ages ago about the whole landmass and how he went under it putting what I referred to as magma between him and the kryptonite.

In one of my stories 'Clark' ghost wrote a feature about how he lifted it and what happened.

I am going to hide the next part because it might be spoilerish depending on what you do in you story next.

Warning may contain spoiler

Highlight from here  Lips Sealed I'm anxious to see how you deal with the next part because we also debated if that was kryponite falling back into the sea.  I felt it was the magma falling off as the landmass kept growing.  to here if you want to see.

I wasn't about to destroy Richard, just because he was in the way of the OTP.  He's one of the good guys.

It's a tough moment - realizing that the future he'd hoped for isn't going to happen.  I can sympathize, and I've really tried not to torture the guy through this adventure, and to maintain his good character.  However, this epiphany had to come before our OTP could move forward, and it was finally time for that.

I'm handling that a bit differently, as you'll see next time.  However, the basics are the same (highlight to reveal possible spoiler): If he's so quick to lose his strength on top, it's not going to be different on the bottom.  There have to be some measures taken to mitigate the effect of the kryptonite.  There's also some physics to consider, with Superman effectively a point force under a miles-wide protocontinent.

You'll see those details in the next Weekend Update.
  SmileyThanks for the comments, everyone!

As for that, see my response to a chapter of All That Matters that I posted over at The Planet (relevant portion bolded):

Quote:
Either way actually works, since roughly 50%-70% of Clark's powers are psionic in nature (He can lift more weight while flying -despite the shearing effects of gravity on large masses-than he can while actually standing on a surface; his X-Ray Vision doesn't actually involve x-rays and the images are in full color; so-on and so-forth), so why couldn't his long-range hearing involve a clairaudience (as opposed to clairvoyant) effect, as well?
