oh snap! the shi* hit the fan for Luthor! And now that he doesn't have a lawyer, I wonder what he'll do. And omg..he's slowly finding out about the portal network O_O

The early update was a nice surprise, by the way Smiley

Ah, but he doesn't have enough data to reach that conclusion yet.

All Luthor knows is somehow Superman is crossing the country without using his powers (which is what triggers the Alpha Waves his gadget detects,) OR that he's found some way of shielding that from his detector.

Crying and screaming, maybe?

Well, Luthor doesn't always draw the right conclusions from the data in front of him...  he's been known to make some bad assumptions.

Glad to hear it.  I may do that again in the near future.

Nope.

He has more questions than answers at this point.

Thanks, everyone, for the feedback. Smiley

Speaking of Alpha waves, aren't those produced during states of happiness or relaxation?

Does that mean that Clark really does fly via thinking of "happy thoughts"???

Would that mean that photons are fairy dust?

The 'Alpha wave' B.S. was another example of poorly researched pseudo-science from S:II.  In this A.U., I've morphed it into a subspace alpha shift, which seems more credible, at least to me.  (Refer to (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) for my description of that).

Thanks for the comments.

I think both Luthor & Richard are about to have a come apart.  They may spontaneously combust from all their frustrations.   That would be cool!  Wink

I suspect that Luthor's more likely to pop a blood vessel over all this.

Richard's frustration probably made worse because he doesn't have all the facts and is making a lot of assumptions.  Things will get better on that front.

No problem, although sometimes having my Chinese astrological sign being the Monkey is more apparent at times than others.
And my comment on the Alpha waves was actually more directed at the Superman II bit than your fic, I liked your retro-explanation, but sometimes my jokes just fall flat.
As for photons being fairy dust, sure, if it comes from fusion-powered fae  Grin

I got the joke.  It didn't fall flat.  Thanks for sharing. Smiley

Seriously, though, I do like your version, although both are scientifically possible. (Note I said possible; here's why:)

Luthor's S2 method isn't very feasible, but still possible none the less, since living brains do broadcast radiowave frequencies in the single-hertz wavelengths.

If Clark had a unique extra set of EEG brain-patterns they would be more properly in the beta or gamma wavelengths, as those are produced by certain cognitive or motor functions, but even so, in the single-hertz frequencies, the range before signal dispersion is so limited tracking him that way would have to be done at superhuman speeds (due to the short range), which is something Luthor cannot do.

Hence, my agreement on the subspace (or possibly gravitational?) angle you're going with, it simply makes more sense in terms of feasibility.

Plus, it explains the 'ripple' effect Clark uses in Smallville on the super-rare times he's flown on that show!
