Having Jor-El with a back-up escape plan is positively brill - too many people see Jor-El as coldly cerebral without realizing what a passionate man he had to have been to do the things he did: create the Phantom Zone to keep his people from having to enact the death penalty, go head-to-head against the prevailing scientific 'truths' about the quakes, prepare to send his own son off to save his life.
